Aquatic Exercise Science
In June, 10 studies were indexed, “a record number”. Of these, four are randomized controlled trials, two involved chronic low back pain (Canada and Iran), one study was on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (Brazil) and the last article, for which there is already a previous publication from the same Iranian authors, was on women with visual impairment. In addition, four reviews were published, two systematic, on Parkinson’s and lung function (Spain and India), as well as a network review on fibromyalgia (Spain), which indicates, among other things, that short-term aquatic exercises are the best approaches to reduce pain intensity in these patients. The last paper, a narrative review, dealt with the Watsu concept on pain (Brazil). The final two publications found discussed a case report with an adult patient with cerebral palsy (USA) and a cross-sectional study (by authors who have already published a similar study) also comparing children with cerebral palsy vs. control during walking on an underwater treadmill (USA).
